Chicago Jazz Magazine's Feature Interview for March 2020

Growing up in the Chicagoland area Alyssa Allgood was inspired by music at an early age and becoming a vocalist was her passion. She attended the Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp as a teenager and started listening and studying jazz throughout high school and into her college years at North Central College in Naperville, IL. After college Alyssa began performing professionally throughout Chicago while also entering national and international jazz competitions which helped in the development of her voice.
Recently Alyssa has joined the staff at the Chicago Academy of Arts, a nationally recognized independent high school for the performing and visual arts, as jazz vocal instructor. She continues to perform and record, recently returning from a 2 week performance as a member of Richard Johnson's Quintet at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai performance center. Throughout the interview Alyssa discusses her concepts on performance, teaching and previews a new recording that is coming out in 2020.
